Junior year, I ran the numbers on my school’s composting program: the bins sat in the cafeteria for eight months and got used about one lunch in ten. The problem was not the science. It was where the bins stood, what the signs said, and who was watching. I have not found a single department that owns that question: which is why the BU Hub matters to me: I could take the economics of incentives in the College of Arts and Sciences alongside operations work at Questrom in the same semester.
