The humming engine faintly entered my awareness as I peered out the back window of the car. My parents had just picked me up from elementary school this cool autumn evening. I surveyed the land, basking in the beauty of the world outside. The fallen pointed leaves of the great oak trees lining the sidewalks saturated the road; the sky was radiant, ablaze with shades of orange and blue seen only seen in movies.
