I am familiar with success. At school, my success is measured numerically and printed into neat little rows of black A’s that define me as a dedicated student. At a piano competition, success is largely demonstrated by how many black and white keys I can accurately strike with my fingers. At home, my parents assess me further and exhibit my success to their friends. I thrive in a world of theoretical academia and for eleven years was hesitant to place myself in a situation where failure was even a possibility.
