As I look out the window, a wave of emotions suddenly come over me. The city lights on the hills slowly disappear as the plane flies overhead, and I feel my eyes begin to water. “This is it,” I think to myself. “After eight long years, this is it. I’m finally home.” I begin to feel restless, anticipating the moment I step off the plane and take in my first breath of Colombian air. I am 14 and it is my first time visiting Colombia since I was adopted and moved to the United States at the age of six. I do not remember what it is like living in Colombia, so it will feel like my first time ever…
