The dice weighed heavy in my hand as I scanned the board in front of me. My stomach tightened. I could hardly contain my anticipation. This is it, I told myself. Holding my breath, I released the dice in mid-air. They turned over, once, twice, three times, and dropped silently, as if suspended in slow motion, finally hitting the board with a series of clacks.
